Week 14 Tutorial Logbook - 27/1

Week 14 – The Big Agency- 27th January 2017

In preparation for the tutorial I made sure to communicate with my group as to make sure that everyone was on track and knew what needed to be bought into class for the group work section. In today’s session, we focused on creating personas and reviewing the research we collected.

A persona is a composite sketch of a key segment of the audience, they help to deliver content that is relevant and useful to the audience (Buffer social, 2015). I created two personas for our group to use as part of the work for the client. They were created by analysing The Candidates blogs and generating averages from the results of our questionnaire.

This week we decided to focus mainly on reaching our client for a re-brief, both Elena and Debbie wrote emails to The Candidate in the hopes of a reply. After waiting a week, we asked both the class and Dr Bex for advice, they suggested we call the client – which we did during the latter half of the tutorial. This was unfortunately unsuccessful. However, we are still completing blogs which we hope are general enough to still be relevant.

Week 13 Tutorial Logbook - 20/1

Week 13 – The Big Agency – 20th January 2017

In preparation for the tutorial I made sure to communicate with my group as to make sure that everyone was on track and knew what needed to be bought into class for the group work section.

This week focused on interpreting research carried out over the Christmas break, this research was conducted over social media but we found that we couldn’t reach the appropriate audience. To combat this issue, we decided to ask Dr Bex to post our questionnaire on her social media account as she had more reach with a more appropriate audience.

We also looked at examples of previous videos, this was a helpful exercise as it gave us a taster of what we had to create and how we could possibly create it. It showed us that VideoScribe was a possible option that would allow us to create a fun and creative video.

Towards the end of the tutorial, Dr Bex informed us that our client had been in contact and would like to arrange a meeting to discuss changes to the original brief. Bex suggested that the new direction would be further away from IT Recruitment and closer to specific job roles. This information didn’t deter us and as a group we decided to embrace the change, take it as valuable experience and work on arranging a meeting with the client.

Week 12 Tutorial Logbook - 13/1

Week 12 – The Big Agency 13th January 2017

In preparation for the first tutorial of the new year I made sure to check the MMU Moodle site, along with The Big Agency Twitter page (@MMUBigAg) for any important information that I needed to know.

This week in The Big Agency we mainly discussed the findings from our research and the results from our assignment 1. We had our first stand up meeting of the term in the first section of the tutorial and we discussed what we would be doing in the future weeks regarding the research questionnaire and meeting the client again.

The second half of the tutorial consisted of feedback in relation to Assignment 1. Dr Bex suggested that I needed to show how the skills that I’m learning can be applied to the work that will be sent to our client, and that I should be focusing on using more sophisticated language such as “Evidence demonstrates that I…” instead of the simple “I feel”. This information will be taken into consideration when submitting both Assessment 2 and The Candidate blogs.
